It just so happens you can do this through the Google Home app on your phone by creating speaker groups. All you need is a few Google Home compatible speakers and some great music to play. As a product of Google Home’s restructuring, Google is bringing live video feeds to Nest Camera users over the web, with easy access to your cameras over the internet and without the Google Home app. This guide will take you through using the new site to view your Google Nest Cameras live in any browser. The public preview of the new Google Home app will run for a while before the Home app is officially launched, says Kattukaran. While the automation capabilities in the app still appear to be fairly basic — although they do now include the ability to schedule cameras to turn on and off — Google is introducing a script editor early next year.
For example, you could have a Pet Space for your pet cam, pet feeder, robot vacuum, and air purifier. Welcome to the totally new Google Home app, now available in Public Preview.

If you don’t like it, you can always roll back until Google works out the kinks. Thread is the latest wireless mesh technology, designed to make your smart devices more connected and reliable. It helps extend the overall strength, capability, and reach of your home network. With Google Home, easily create helpful automations with your devices.
We’re bringing Matter to Android and capable Nest products, powering them with interoperable control and enabling simpler setups. The script editor will include over a hundred new features to help you link your devices together in new and more useful ways. Across the board, Google has updated the home routine system to be more streamlined and intuitive. There’s a dedicated Automation tab and expanded support for various devices as both starter triggers and end actions. Although Google Home has supported the Nest cameras for some time, the updated Google Home app is mating the best of the Nest camera app with Google Home. The old Nest app will stick around in maintenance mode, but all the new and innovative stuff happening with the Nest cameras will rely on the updated Google Home app.

While more of our devices are connected to the internet today, we’re still far from a truly smart and helpful home. Devices are hard to set up, they don’t always perform when you need them to, they don’t all work well together and there are multiple apps to navigate. Now, iOS users are going to need to wait for “the coming weeks” to see this change on their smartphones and tablets. While it is available to be side-loaded, it hasn’t appeared on any devices at the time of this writing. Given the ongoing and long history of issues with malware in apps, side-loading isn’t necessarily advisable right now either. One of the distinct advantages of having Wi-Fi speakers is the ability to wirelessly play music on multiple devices at the same time.
Remember, when updates go out, they don't hit every region at the same time. Once you have the current system firmware, you can then cross-reference this against Google's support page, which shows the latest Google Home firmware version for all its devices. Google Home and Nest devices allow you to pair a Bluetooth speaker to them so music and audio is played through that speaker instead. If these steps don’t solve the issue, you’ll need to factory reset your speaker or display, then set it up again. Android TV and Google TV are great options for streaming media, playing cloud-based games, or even turning your TV into a virtual fireplace. But did you know that you can use your phone as a remote control for your Android TV/Google TV?

Devices with Thread built-in, like Nest Wifi, Nest Hub Max and the second-generation Nest Hub will become connection points for Matter devices, creating even stronger, faster connections across your home. All Nest displays and speakers, like the Nest Hub and Nest Mini, will be automatically updated to control Matter devices, giving you faster and more reliable experiences whether they use Wi-Fi, Thread or ethernet. A new, major Google Home design overhaul is coming soon to the delight of users everywhere.
It’s not clear if contact sensors or other sensor types such as leak or smoke detectors will also work. Google is fully committed to Matter, the new smart home connectivity standard that aims to address many industry pain points such as complicated setup, confusing integrations, and poor reliability. New 14" and 16" models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chip options as the most significant changes.
You can create a sharing link with your own unique keywords, and also insert your profile picture and message. Google has reorganized things within the app as well as introduced some visual changes. If you are using Android 12 or Android 13, you won’t be surprised by the overall look of the app. It strongly aligns with the Material You overhaul Android 12 received in 2021. Not only will it look and function differently than it has, but it will also be more powerful and customizable for your specific smart home.
Last week, Google emailed some Nest Wifi owners about a 30% Nest Wifi Pro discount, and the company is reaching out again through the Google Home app. If you have a Nest x Yale lock in your home, you might have noticed something different about Google Home routines and Assistant interacting with the lock. You can create and share coordinates through Dropship in the newly released Galaxy To Share app. When copying and sharing text, select Dropship to share and it will be delivered as a text file and can be copied to the clipboard when received.
And this also includes being able to favorite all of your Nest cameras so you can view your live streams, right when the app opens, no additional taps required. With updates on Matter for Android and Nest devices, and a new and improved Google Home app, we're taking a big step towards that vision. Whether you have a few smart lights or are a smart home enthusiast with dozens of connected devices, the Google Home app will improve your smart home experience. The new app will be available in Public Preview first so you can test out the latest features, share feedback and help us shape the future of Google Home. Nest is committed to making our devices connect better and respond faster. Thread, a technology we cofounded in 2014 that helps smart home devices work faster and more securely, will work in conjunction with Matter.
A new “Favorites” tab allows you to gather your most used devices and shortcuts in a single place. There you can control lighting, scenes, and media playback in a much more polished fashion. The Google Home app hasn’t had a serious refresh in quite some time, so the most immediately noticeable change right out of the gate is a massively overhauled app interface. You can get access to most of the features now by signing up for the Google Home Public Preview here. If you're waiting on an update for your Google Assistant smart speaker, the first rule is to be patient.
To set up your Google Nest or Home speaker or display, Chromecast, TV or speaker with Chromecast built-in, or Google Assistant speaker, you need to upgrade to the latest version of the Google Home app. Upgrading will also allow you to get new features and have a better experience. Spaces make it quick to access devices grouped by important categories like your lights, cameras, thermostats or network devices in one simple view. Next year, we will be adding even more customization options with custom spaces.
With the rapidly growing number of compatible devices in people’s homes, it was clear to us that there was no one size fits all model to organize the home. That’s why we’re making customization and personalization a core principle for the new Google Home app and why the first thing you see in the app is the Favorites tab. Google is officially rolling out a brand new UI update for its smart home-oriented Google Home app, with significant usability implications.

Automations Customize your devices to do what you want, when you want, with new automations in the Google Home app. Automate schedules so you don’t have to worry that you left something on when you’re away. Activity and Settings Use the activity tab to better understand what’s happening in and around your smart home. And easily find and manage devices, services, and members in the Settings tab. In a few weeks we’ll also be rolling out a new camera experience on Google Home for the web that lets you view all your Nest camera and doorbell feeds.
